Case 1: Japan's first PFI project to update, operate, and maintain an entire water treatment plant

Cerarocca at Kawai Water Treatment Plant commissioned in 2008, has been in operation since 2014.
As the representative company, METAWATER operates and manages an SPC by the name of “Water Next Yokohama”. By maximizing use of ICT, design and construction using natural terrain, and the operational know-how of private-sector companies, METAWATER has been able to achieve greater efficiency, lower costs, and lower environmental impact than conventional water treatment plants.

Watershed forest conservation activities at water source in Yokohama

METAWATER participates in the "W-eco'p" water source eco-project promoted by city of Yokohama and other organizations, and is engaged in watershed forest conservation activities in Doshimura, Yamanashi Prefecture, which serves as the source of water for Yokohama.
As part of these activities, we also participated in educational events for citizens in Yokohama, where we demonstrated filtration using ceramic membranes.

Case 2: Japan's first self-supporting PFI project, including the collection of fees for the centralized treatment and purification of wastewater from fisheries facilities damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake

Launched in 2015, Fishery Support Onagawa is an SPC, of which METAWATER is the representative company, engaged in the centralized treatment and purification of wastewater from a fisheries processing park in Onagawacho, Miyagi Prefecture.
In order to protect the good fishing grounds of Onagawa and support the quick restoration of marine product processing facilities, METAWATER is working with local companies in the running of "Fishery Support Onagawa."

Support for Onagawacho

METAWATER holds an annual event selling specialty products at Head Office (Tokyo) and our Hino Branch in cooperation with the Onagawacho Tourist Association. Our employees also participate as volunteers in events held in Onagawacho. In these ways, we provide support for the town. We also have a stall at the Tokyo Bay's Great Thanksgiving Festival to promote the town's specialty products.
