Water reuse system
Outline
The water reuse system produces reclaimed water out of the overflow of a final sedimentation tank, which is used as raw water. The compact system produces good-quality treated water by combining ozone treatment and coagulation with the ceramic membrane.
Features
1. Treated water that is of good quality
Very high-quality treated water is obtained with a chromaticity of 3 degrees or lower and turbidity of 0.1 degree or lower. These values sufficiently comply with the standard for reclaimed water for amenities as stipulated in the Standard Manual for Regenerated Water Quality of Treated Wastewater.
2. Space saving
Due to the extremely high membrane filtration flux, the space requirement for equipment installation is reduced.
3. Easy maintenance and management
It is easy to maintain because the ceramic membrane is highly durable with no risk of breakage, and because it also allows for fully automatic operation by means remote monitoring.
4. Environmentally-friendly ceramic membrane with a long service life
The service life of the ceramic membrane for wastewater is as long as approximately 10 years. The ceramic membrane is eco-friendly because it can be recycled as a raw material for ceramics instead of ending up as waste for disposal.
Example of implementation
Shibaura Water Reclamation Center (Bureau of Sewage, Tokyo)
To develop a technologically and economically feasible water reclamation system, METAWATER conducted a joint study with the Bureau of Sewage of Tokyo.
As a result, METAWATER received an order from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for “The Wave 4 Work for machine equipment for water regeneration in Shibaura Water Reclamation Center.” In April 2010, the commercial plant started its operation at a treatment capacity of 7,000 m3/day.
Project outline
- Treatment capacity: 7,000 m3/day (1.8 MGD)
- Ozone equipment: 2.5 kg 3/hr x 2 lines
- Membrane filtration equipment: 9 elements x 6 modules x 2 units
Applications
Flush water for toilets in buildings and landscaping water, etc.
