METAWATER Signs Exclusive License Agreement for the Use of "Nereda®technology", a Wastewater Treatment Technology Using Aerobic Granules in Japan
METAWATER Co., Ltd. (President: Kenji Yamaguchi; Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter, "METAWATER") hereby announces that it has signed an exclusive license agreement with Royal HaskoningDHV of the Netherlands, for the use of "Nereda® technology" (hereinafter, the "technology") in Japan, a wastewater treatment technology using aerobic granules, owned by Royal HaskoningDHV.
This technology was developed in the Netherlands, was first operated for municipal wastewater treatment plant in the same country in 2011 and has since been introduced to over 120 locations worldwide. Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc. of the United States (hereinafter, "Aqua"), a subsidiary of METAWATER, had already signed an exclusive license agreement with Royal HaskoningDHV in 2016, for the use of this technology in the North American region, and the use has been rapidly expanding in North America as well.
This technology saves space at wastewater treatment plants, contributes significantly to energy savings, and reduces life cycle costs. It also contributes to decarbonization, which has been an issue in the fields of sewage works.
In light of Aqua's strong sales, METAWATER has signed an exclusive license agreement for the use in Japan with Royal HaskoningDHV.
METAWATER will begin proposing the introduction of the technology to municipalities in Japan and water and wastewater business entities, and work toward its widespread use.
