Full scale operation of water treatment plant in the Netherlands using ceramic membrane filtration system
- Accelerating global expansion of ceramic membranes through strategic alliance with PWN Technologies -
METAWATER Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President: Tomoyasu Kida; hereinafter referred as "METAWATER") formed a strategic alliance with PWN Technologies (Headquarters: Noord-Holland, Netherlands; CEO: Jonathan Clement; hereinafter referred as "PWNT") in June 2013 aimed at jointly expanding the global market of CeraMac® - the PWNT's water treatment system using ceramic membranes provided by METAWATER.
As part of the strategic alliance, METAWATER provided PWNT in 2012 1,920 ceramic membranes for CeraMac® to be installed at the water treatment plant Andijk III (water treatment capacity of 120,000 cubic meters per day) in the Netherlands. PWNT officially commenced full scale operation of the water treatment plant in May this year.
METAWATER(then NGK INSULATORS, LTD.) has been participating in pilot testing for small- and large-scale ceramic membrane filtration systems conducted by PWNT (then PWN) since METAWATER provided a system in 2005 for the pilot tests aimed at developing new water treatment systems capitalizing on the characteristics of high strength, long life, and easily operable ceramic membranes. In addition, METAWATER has been delivering ceramic membranes for the PWNT's demoplant at the Choa Chu Kang Waterworks (water treatment capacity of 364,000 cubic meters per day) in Singapore which uses CeraMac®.
Through the strategic alliance with PWNT, METAWATER has been delivering ceramic membranes for the CeraMac® system and supplying engineering services while jointly conducting global marketing and providing services for CeraMac®. Making the most of the opportunity, METAWATER will accelerate the global expansion of ceramic membranes in the future.
CeraMac" is a water treatment system using ceramic membranes and capable of containing up to 192 ceramic membrane elements in a single vessel. CeraMac" is a registered trademark of PWNT.
